If you're like the majority of the people out there, you have tried a number of different diets and had a different degree of successes. You most likely lost a little bit of weight, got to a certain point and then, regardless of what you tried, couldn't lose any more. The plateau thing is really very common--it is something that people deal with whatever diet plan they follow. There isn't a way of avoiding this plateau if you don't deceive your metabolism.
You most likely have already arrived at the plateau at least once--in fact, it has possibly caused a frustrating end to more than one diet program. This is an odd thing that takes place to even the most successful dieters sometime close to the third or fourth week of the diet they have chosen. Until that moment, the weight drops off and then it just stops and absolutely nothing you do can get your body to get rid of more weight. This is the way your body responds to the modifications that you have made. Your body will go into a protection mode to prevent you from starving and it will decrease your rate of metabolism. What this does, then, is stop your body from shedding any more excess weight.
That is why people stop trying to lose weight because, this plateau keeps them from thinking that doing so is possible. This is exactly what causes most people to start eating again and they typically gain back more weight than they lost to begin with. The best way to stop this is to choose a diet where your calories simply get shifted. This means that you eat a different number of calories daily which can help fool your metabolism. When this works, it helps to keep your body from turning the switch and getting into protective mode. It will keep your metabolism stable instead of slowing down and you will lose even more weight. When you get to this point, you have passed your plateau and your diet will keep on working the way it was designed to work.
It is really easy to integrate this type of plan into your day to day life. Among the most widely used strategies for calorie cycling is the 14 day method. This method goes for 2 weeks, where you do the usual plan for 11 days, and then 3 days where you eat what you want. Switch your food throughout each day to deceive your metabolism and then eat whatever you want to keep yourself from reaching the plateau. This actually also keeps you from becoming frustrated at a strict regimen with your eating. You can actually keep on doing these 14 days over and over until you are satisfied with your weight loss.
The 2 day plan is yet another very good plan in which you eat regularly for one day and then trim your calories by 20% all the way up to 35%. Continue repeating the method for as long as it takes you to reach a satisfactory level of weight loss. This is a program that warrants your attention since it could be just what you need to pass your plateau and get rid of all of the weight you wish to lose.
